Details, details, details. As a wedding photographer, I want to capture all the special moments and elements of your big day in the best possible way. Here are three reasons why having your wedding details set aside to be photographed is so important.

As I sat at my computer this weekend putting together this blog of little Julian, his parents and grandparents, I had all of these emotions flood over me. I was so grateful that I had been able to capture them all together at such a happy festive time and instantly sad to think that they are all missing each other just as I am missing my parents. Having images like these with extended family, in my opinion (even more so now) is so important and I am so excited to get out and capture more families and extended families as soon as this is all over!

The time we spent together was so much fun and I am so happy for this amazing couple to have said “I do” surrounded by their closest family and friends. This adventurous, kite surfing couple are now working hard to keep their community safe, with Julie being a nurse she is now working on the frontline at the Grandforks hospital during this Covid-19 pandemic. I’m sending out my greatest gratitude to this amazing woman and her hubby during this time and saying thank you! Not only for having be document your big day, but for all the work you are doing for your community. Stay safe, stay healthy.

The world as we know it is changing daily. Our regular routines that we took for granted have been turned upside down and we don’t know when it’s all going to return to normal. I have been struggling on my end if continuing with my blog is something I even want to do right now. Today, I decided that what I need is all the love and warm fuzzy feeling I can get. If these posts of closeness and love of family help you get there too and make your day just a tiny bit brighter than i’ve done my part in making todays world a little bit better!

Photo shoots don’t always go as planned. Maybe you wake up with a blemish in a spot you can’t hide, maybe you spill coffee on your shirt en-route, or maybe the weather turns on you! Whatever the obstacle, know that I have your back! Rain or shine, coffee stains or blemishes, I got you. Kaila and her husband Dave, scouted a mountain side location in Lake Country the weekend prior to our shoot and let me tell you, this spot couldn’t have been any better! The day they had checked it out the sun was shinning and the sky was blue, and she was pretty pumped on the view. Well, the day of our session came and it was chilly, a little windy, overcast and we might have got rained on a bit too…Click on the link to see how an overcast, cold day can still be perfect in every single way.

Fall is one of my busiest seasons for family portraits and it's no wonder. The scenery is beautiful, the colours perfection and life has settled back to normal after what was probably a busy summer. This fall I was feeling the urge to get creative even though my plate was pretty full. However, that creative spark in me was lit and I needed to put kindling on that fire! I messaged Lexi​ and Kendra, who you might recognize from the Zero Vodka Soda social media pages and asked if they worked want to help me put life to my vision. Lucky for me they were in and we got together to create some of my favourite images!

This past fall I had the pleasure to work some amazing families! Fall has always been and always will be, my favourite time of year. This past October was much cooler than previous years and if memory serves me right, sunny days were few and far between. However on this evening, we lucked out and had the most beautiful sunset!

Two sessions, one amazing family! Two years ago, I hosted a weekend of mini sessions, the location was this gorgeous spot you see in the first set of images, the Marcon’s amazing property! In return, I offered them a Family Short Session! Our day was perfect, overcast and colours in full swing!

It amazes me how much babies change within that first year. Being so tiny and helpless, needing to be fed, to holding their bottles, feeding themselves with first their hands then utensils, scooching, crawling, walking, talking, developing their own unique personality and all within 12 months! It really is amazing to see the transformation!

Holy smokes did Tricia pull out the stops for her couple sessions! As attendees we got to get the whole Tricia Victoria experience, a steamy in home session, a romantic bridal session, and a playful adventure session! Needless to say it was hands down amazing watching her do her thang!

At the end of the day each couples session was so incredibly unique and each couple was matched with absolute perfection to their shoots, I honestly don’t think it could have been any better!

Gahhhh!!!! It has been nearly 5 months since I attended the Fernweh Workshop in Salmon Arm with the talented Jayme Ford (The Paper Deer Photography) and Tricia Victoria and I am STILL in complete awe over the entire experience. Watching Jayme and Tricia pose their families and couples was inspiring and I am so excited to share a two-part blog series showcasing what was captured during that whirlwind day. 

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, small intimate weddings are my absolute favourite! Spending time with a couple in love with their closest family and friends is beyond special.

Lifestyle Family Sessions might quite possibly be my favourite type of family session. I love being a fly on the wall observing a family sending time with each other and having fun! The biggest thing I tell my family clients especially ones with little kids, is to just go with it. Let the kids lead the way, run, play and just be. This is when the magic truly happens!
