3 Reasons I LOVE Photographing Businesses | West Kootenay | Commercial Photographer

I love working with families and couples and a lot of what I do with my photography business encompasses that. Another big part of my profession and a real passion of mine involves working with businesses and entrepreneurs. In the last year, I have had the pleasure of working with up-and-coming entrepreneurs as well as large corporations that have been operating for years. My most recent work includes shooting the Board of Directors and Senior Management team with Teck in Vancouver, as well as Threads clothing store and its neighbour the Trail Beer Refinery. Being able to capture professionals and their work is something I hope to keep doing for years to come.  Here are three reasons why I LOVE photographing businesses and the people who operate them.

1. PRODUCT

Setting the scene is one of my favourite parts of product photography because I really get to put my creativity to use.  The backdrop, although not the focal point, is such a huge part of the overall look and feel of the photo, and I love being able to add some style and flavour to a product shoot. Product photography doesn’t have to be an item all by itself (like my shoots with Jewellery by Jacqueline and Moga’s apparrel), and clothing is a great example of this. My recent shoot with Threads has our models wearing the products and rocking the looks in various locations around town.

2. THE PEOPLE

Working with those who are creating a brand or starting a business from the ground up, as well as successful companies who have been in business for years, is always a pleasure. It is so inspiring to work with people who have a vision, and who work tirelessly to achieve their goals.  These shoots are a blast, whether it’s with a large group or one-on-one.

3. SHOWCASING WHAT A BUSINESS HAS TO OFFER

Every business is unique in its own way. Photography is the perfect way to showcase exactly what your business is all about. In the case of the Trail Beer Refinery, it's a place where you want to catch up with friends, have a few drinks, enjoy good food and maybe even play a few rounds of bocce. With Threads it's all about the style. Whatever your niche, it deserves to be showcased in a creative and thoughtful way. Helping to create unique content that can be used on social media platforms, in promotional materials and on company websites, is my absolute FAVOURITE part of working with a business.
