An Afternoon at Shwe Yaunghwe Monastery | Travel Photography | West Kootenay Photographer

One of the things I love about Asia is the Buddhist culture; teaming with temples, monasteries and monks, I just can't get enough.  On our most recent visit to South East Asia, we choose to explore the country of Myanmar (Burma).  Myanmar is heavily influenced by the Buddhist religion, which means seeing temple, monasteries and monks on a daily basis is almost a give in.  We ventured to the town of Nyaungshwe, more famously know for Inle Lake.  Before touring the lake, we took our first day to explore the inland monasteries.  One of which is being the Teak Monastery more formally known as the Shwe Yaunghwe Monastery.  It was a short venture from the main district, and completely worth it.  Here are a few shots from that afternoon.
